Situation

A corporate sales team in one country was having a morale problem stemming from relationship conflicts between team players and the executives who led them, in another country.

Strategy

This difficult situation called for masterful strategic and communication skills including grace and decisiveness to manage out dormant or disruptive people. It also called for the careful recruitment of new team participants and leaders who would set a standard of professionalism while also nurturing the existing team with great conscience.

Result

Immediately after I began to facilitate, this team enjoyed much greater collaboration and universal strategic involvement. Their annual meeting participation went from 60% up to 98%. Newly recruited team members also set a new standard of service, cooperation, and technical depth across the global sales teams.

Year over year this team and their organization continue to reap the benefits of its ability to work well together. An example of this includes their further global expansion into Asia, Central/Eastern Europe, and South America.

The group maintains excellent retention of its team members for a variety of reasons. A primary one is the three-day annual partners meeting I organized and facilitated in a different country each year. Participation in the partner meeting has held steady even as the group’s size increases over time.
